I wouldn’t kick it out of my garage. The red gives it a nice edge.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

I was like “meh” until I saw the red top.

Nice Solara.

Not a huge fan of that rear quarter-panel bulge.

2 many seats 4 me.
If I didn’t care about my wallet or about getting a manual, I’d rock one of these.

It was supposed to echo this, but that’s a hard act to follow:

Conversely,

Can be had in manual. Also pretty basic and not terribly problematic. Just avoid an 06 model unless its balance shaft has been done.

I think the Merc SLK was actually available with a manual until 2014 (yes, in the US too).

Ha, nice to hear “not terribly problematic”.
Also just passed 190,000 miles in the Crossfire. Only about a half dozen things wrong with it, but its still working just fine!

I honestly just assumed they phased it out earlier then that.

2015 actually. Good luck finding one though!

Ugh. The new c and e class convertibles are so bland. I loved this gen e coupe body style

It looks close to this

Yep, it kind of has haunches. which don’t always work. The original intent was a Ponton tribute, but it wasn’t fully integrated into the somewhat angular design, and most buyers don’t know or care about the heritage anyway. The bulge was removed from the sedan for the 2014 model year facelift.
Would have been cooler if they gave it fins as a heritage theme instead, and also would have coincided with the 50th anniversary of the fintail for W212/C209 debut in 2009.

Ever since I got Valka, I’m noticing red interiors are showing up everywhere now.

2 less seats, lots more money.

Nice! I would say the 171 SLK is considerably more reliable than a 170/crossfire to be honest.

There’s actually quite a few out there for sale, surprisingly. Two 2014 SLK manuals within 50 miles of my location alone, with one at the my closest MB dealership where I just bought a Mercedes a month ago!
I’m seeing between 50-100 manual SLKs total for sale nationwide on cargurus/autotrader, so that’s not even including any craigslist listings of which I’m sure there are many.

I honestly think the last 10 years of the SL have been its saddest. This whole gen, and the last gen refresh are not pretty imho.

Agreed (I think). The pre-facelift R230 was the last one I like. Though the black/red Mille Miglia edition above is the best I’ve seen recently.
Ironically, they did a 40th Anniversary MM edition of the R129, and a 60th anniversary R231 last year...but as I far as I know, there was never a 50th anniversary for the R230. The MM usually aren’t anything special, but I appreciate the history. Maybe one day I’ll rectify their omission with a tastefully updated SL55.
